StudentsInPlacements

Our service is directed at students currently on a placement year at university. We had decided to look into this as we had found that most of the group that had been on placement had experienced some form of isolation. After researching this, we had found that Stuart Eno had conducted research on socializing students on placement, and had found that the transition from education to an unknown working life with unknown people and organisations had resulted in loneliness. Additionally, he had found that students going through placements primary concern was their personal life and emotions whilst on placement. Additionally, experiences from our own group as well as other online sources had found that students had felt isolated whilst on placement, ultimately affecting their experience and mental health. We had therefore decided that this was a great opportunity to create a forum/social media platform, helping students in sharing their experiences with one another, possibly creating friendships and improving their personal life whilst on placements. This service will feature various different forums where students can choose to connect with people at their university on placement and people within the area they are working in who are also on placement.
